The Regular CD release party took place in the Diller Hotel, a 100-plus year old building in downtown Seattle. No longer a hotel, but still owned by the family that built it, it is populated by a rotating cast of artists, writers, photographers, musicians and misc squatter types. It's also where I live.
Our performance was scheduled to take place on the night of one of The Diller's notorious multi-floor, multi-bar, multi-performer art parties. This one was called the "Ow! My Penis! Back To School" party, and featured all sorts of lovely carnival games and costumes.
One of the games involved pinning raw hot dogs onto a large mural of a naked George W. Bush (complete with Texas-shaped chest hair). These same hot dogs were later thrown at us by the crowd as we played our set, which also garnered what I believe is a record number of phone calls to the police by the uptight residents of the apartment tower across the street.
All of which I chose to take as a compliment...
